The Illusion of Tradition: Wang Guowei's Poetics in a Cross-cultural Context
by Luo Gang
About This Novel
This book uses the perspective of comparative poetics to examine the characteristics of Wang Guowei's poetics in the context of Chinese and Western academics. After carefully combing and analyzing the sources of Wang's poetics, it believes that: Wang Guowei's poetics is to a large extent a Chinese variant of Western, especially German, modern aesthetics, rather than being rooted in the ancient Chinese poetic tradition, which has been almost established in the academic world. On this basis, this book raises the issue of "rediscovering tradition", which is quite inspiring for the reflection and reconstruction of the humanities. The research in this book is unconventional and has never been done before. It is a new advancement for the study of Wang Guowei's poetry.
