About This Novel
In the late 1950s, Taiwan's Kuomintang Air Force stepped up its high-altitude reconnaissance of the mainland. Based on its "global strategy", the United States began to provide U-2 high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft to Taiwan. The Taiwan Air Force thus formed the "35th Squadron", which was affiliated to the Intelligence Agency of the Kuomintang Air Force Headquarters. The U-2 aircraft has a maximum flight speed of 800 kilometers per hour, a maximum range of 7,000 kilometers, an endurance of up to 9 hours, and a practical ceiling of 22,870 meters. The aircraft is equipped with advanced systems such as reconnaissance, night flight, electronic countermeasures, and electromagnetic wave detection. Photos can be taken at an altitude of 20,000 meters, with a lateral range of 150 miles for interpretation. The Kuomintang Air Force called the deep flight of the U-2 aircraft "Operation Penetrating the Curtain". The following are thrilling stories that happened in the hinterland of the motherland 40 years ago.
