During the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty, there was a blacksmith shop on Dongguan Street, Jingxian County, Hebei Province. It specialized in making agricultural household items, such as sickles, hoes, plows, and rakes, and also engaged in the foreign iron industry. The owner of the shop, whose surname is Sun, is in his thirties. Because he is the second oldest, people call him Second Brother Sun. Sun Er hired a dozen workers and paid them monthly wages. He is usually a kind-hearted person, but he is careless when it comes to payment of wages, which makes people who are lazy make irresponsible remarks. Among these guys, there was one named Wang Hu, who lived in Dongguan and was a little homesick. When I went to work in the morning, I woke up late and came in a little late, which naturally caused Sun Er to nag. When wages were paid at the end of the month, Wang Hu was deducted 50 cents.
