About This Novel

It tells the story of the period from 2002 to 2016, when China's economy shifted from being dominated by foreign capital to rising domestic capital. Two foreigners, Zhou Yue and Chang He, stayed in Beijing after graduating from university and entered the listed auditing and investment industries respectively. Later, they followed the ideals of their mentor Kuang Ruogu and seized the opportunity of the Internet wave. They founded their own Chinese firms and private equity investment companies respectively, and forged ahead in the capital market. In the process, the two got to know each other and fell in love, experiencing emotional tests and career difficulties. After their mentor passed away unexpectedly, inspired by their mentor's daughter, psychologist Kuang Shuwen, who had returned from overseas, the two of them dropped everything and joined their good friends to devote themselves to the charity cause of rare diseases in China. The novel describes the workplace culture of foreign-funded enterprises, investment and listing cases, the growth of women and the changes in career and family concepts in the changing economic environment. It describes the different pursuits of two generations, reflects on the loss of individuals in self-satisfaction in the great era, and calls for returning to one's true nature and creating higher life value.
