Wu Ji felt that his life was like a guest. The beat generation in America always said that they lived "on the road." Wu Ji is Chinese. He doesn't know what it feels like to be "on the road" and he doesn't want to know what it feels like. Wu Ji lived in the late 1990s in China in the 20th century, and he always felt that he was living in a "half-bottled" society. Wu Ji originally had a career, and it was an enviable but never lonely career for most Chinese people. Wu Ji graduated from the Beijing Broadcasting Institute, the highest institution of radio and television in China. It is really not surprising that Wu Ji was assigned to work in a provincial TV station after graduation. What is incomprehensible and even puzzling is that after Wu Ji worked at the provincial TV station for five full years, he quietly disappeared - he disappeared without anyone noticing for a relatively long period of time.
