Mr. Cao Mufan studied famous scholars for Du Fu, and his poems about Du Fu were profound and grand, focusing on the integration of "principles, textual research, and rhetoric". Whether it is Du Fu's Confucianism or his "depressed and frustrated" artistic style, he has an in-depth and unique understanding and interpretation. This book is a joint publication of the author's two works, "Miscellaneous Comments on Du Poems" and "The Continuation of Miscellaneous Comments on Du Poems". The former is mainly some of his reading notes in 1962; the latter focuses on the experiences and results of Du Fu's research in the 1980s, reflecting his attempts and efforts to "introduce Western modern rhetoric into the study of Tang and Song poetry, and introduce Western phenomenology or Heidegger's 'existentialism' thought into the study." In addition, five articles on the study of Du Fu in the author's later years are included as appendices to reflect his superior grasp of the position and influence of Du Fu's poems in the entire history of Chinese literature.
