The Shimao site is the largest human activity site from the late Longshan Culture to the early Xia Dynasty that has been discovered in northern Shaanxi. It is also the largest city site from the prehistoric period that has been discovered in China. In order to strengthen protection, our province has formulated the "Shaanxi Province Shimao Site Protection Regulations". The "Regulations" stipulate that the Shimao site and its unearthed cultural relics are owned by the state, and citizens, legal persons and other organizations are not allowed to illegally excavate, destroy, possess or trade. The Shimao ruins protection area is divided into protection scope and construction control zone.
