by Editor-in-chief Yang Bojiang
About This Novel
The Institute of Japan, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, was established in May 1981 with the approval of the State Council. It is an academic institution and think tank affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences that specializes in the study of contemporary Japanese issues. In order to speed up the construction of the subject system, academic system and discourse system of Japanese studies with Chinese characteristics, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Japan Institute, we have specially organized the leaders of various disciplines of the institute and appropriately recruited experts from outside the institute to systematically review the relevant research results and disciplinary developments in the nine fields of Japanese politics, economy, diplomacy, Sino-Japanese relations, security, society, culture, history and thought in the past 40 years. On the basis of summarizing the development patterns, main characteristics and existing problems of Japanese studies, we look forward to the future development direction. Discipline review is a basic work for discipline construction. I hope this book will be a reference for domestic and foreign international relations academic circles and promote further innovative development of contemporary Japanese studies.
