About This Novel

This book is a monograph on the history and folk customs of Pingtan, Fujian. The author supplements and annotates local humanistic materials in Pingtan, Fujian, and edits humanistic materials on Haitan Tongjian (1912-2016) and Haitan-Ryukyu Relations History (1912-2016). In addition, this book uses rich historical materials to explain that before the establishment of the province of Taiwan Island, the "Diaoyu Islands" had always been within the jurisdiction of the Chinese Navy where Pingtan County, Fujian Province is now located. General Zhan Gongxian, the commander-in-chief of the Fujian-Taiwan Penghu Association in the Qing Dynasty, participated in the defense of the sea area when he was young, and the cultural relics left behind also show that the "Diaoyu Islands" belong to Pingtan, Fujian Province, China. This book also improves and supplements the information on the Zhan Gongxian family.
