In accordance with the requirements of the leaders of the Zigong Municipal Party Committee, this book deeply explores Zigong's characteristic party history resources, inherits the fine traditions and styles of the older generation of soldiers, and provides spiritual motivation for the revitalization and development of old industrial cities. The author's unit interviewed 24 veterans of the former Southwest Service Corps of the People's Liberation Army. Through their memories, it shows the true picture of these veterans joining the army for training, marching eight thousand miles into the southwest, participating in the construction of the New China People's Power, suppressing bandits, land reform, socialist construction, and reform and opening up and making new contributions. This book vividly reflects from one aspect the establishment and consolidation of the new people's power in the Zigong region at the beginning of the founding of the Republic and the subsequent development of socialist construction, reform and opening up in the past 70 years. The compilation and publication of this book not only adds new content to the study of the history of the Southwest Service Corps, but also provides extremely valuable living materials that use history to inspire and educate people for the further development of party history work in the Zigong region.
