About This Novel
This book is a commemorative work written by the author when he was in his twenties, to commemorate the two-week trip he and his brother took on the Concord and Merrimack rivers. Later, when his brother passed away, he wrote this work as a memorial. However, the whole book is abbreviated as a week's travel, and starting from the perspective of travel, the text touches on the role of the environment on the spirit, and how the human soul can be purified in the natural environment. This book is a companion volume to "Walden". Its essence is more reflected in the journey through nature, the role of the environment on the spirit, and how people think and discern in the natural environment.
