The Road to Defeat: the Russo-japanese War of 1904-1905
About This Novel
This book inherits the positivist tradition of Russian historiography and is based on a large number of detailed original archival documents. It explains the origins, pre-war preparations, war process and consequences of the Russo-Japanese War from a Russian perspective. At the same time, it is based on an international perspective and deeply analyzes the internal and external factors that affect the diplomatic and military decisions of both sides. The book is divided into two parts: diplomacy and war. The diplomacy part analyzes the situation of the Russian Empire in Europe and Asia before the Russo-Japanese War; the war part mainly analyzes the specific process of this war from the Russian perspective, and believes that the important reason for the failure of the Russian army was the improper command and strategy of the supreme commander.
