Research on the Development of the Peasant Class in Contemporary China
by Zou Yujie
About This Novel
Since the emergence of the peasant class, Chinese farmers have experienced two different social forms, feudal society (including semi-feudal and semi-colonial society) and socialist society, as well as two different economic forms, natural economy and commodity economy. Under different social and economic forms, farmers' social status, identity, production and lifestyle, and ideological concepts have shown different characteristics and have gone through different change processes and stages. However, the most epoch-making change began in 1978 with the reform of the rural economic system. From then on, farmers gradually broke through the shackles of tradition and moved towards modern civilization.
