McLuhan was a master of media theory in the 20th century. His concepts and propositions such as "global village" and "medium is the message" have long been well-known to everyone. However, what is often overlooked is that he was also a master of aesthetics. We believe that there is not only a "media McLuhan", such as Levinson's "digital McLuhan", but also an "aesthetic McLuhan". And more importantly, McLuhan's media research methodology is aesthetic research. As he himself admitted, his media research is "applied Joyce". Therefore, to understand McLuhan, aesthetics is an excellent entry point. However, the purpose of editing this paper is not just to restore the true content of McLuhan's media studies. We are more interested in opening up a path of aesthetics research in media studies, and at the same time, opening up a path of media studies in aesthetics research, so that media studies and aesthetics research can learn from each other and gain from each other. The authors of the collection of papers are all McLuhan research experts, including Professor Dunant, Director of the McLuhan Research Department at the University of Toronto, Professor Lambert at the University of Bologna, etc.
