This is a well-known work by the modern Chinese novelist Lao She. It tells the story of a plane bound for Mars that crashed and killed everyone at the moment it collided with Mars. Only "I" survived, but was taken to their cat city by a group of cat-faced aliens and began a difficult alien life. Because "I" mistakenly entered the "Cat City", I got to know all kinds of cat people: Scorpion who is a big landowner, politician, poet, and military officer, Scorpion who is knowledgeable and perfunctory about the world, cat soldiers who only steal leaves and women, minister's wife who guards eight concubines, foreigners who kill without breaking the law, students who beat teachers, scholars who sell cultural relics, party sticks who make a living, and warlords who rush to surrender... With the sound of a cannon, the prosperity ended. The cat people also have a history and have a civilization of more than 20,000 years. In ancient times, they also fought with foreign countries and defeated them. However, in the past five hundred years, the result of fighting among themselves has made them completely forget the concept of fighting foreigners, and they have been united in fighting against each other, which has led to the degradation of civilization. And "I" witnessed with my own eyes a war between cat people and dwarf soldiers, which ended with the annihilation of the entire city of Cat City, an ancient alien civilization with increasingly selfish desires.
