When I read the first sentence "Her husband is a foreigner", I decided not to read this book.
I just feel embarrassed to marry a foreigner
I bought the physical book for a long time, but now I see it online. It's really good. Sanmao in the desert, a simple life story, allows us to see the woman, the soul in the desert.
I think Sanmao is a magical woman who skipped school and went to the grave. The mute brother in the book is really distressed. Later she learned painting and studied abroad. I think my language skills are very good. After using German for a few months, I have never mastered it, and Spanish 🇪🇸 and so on. I love the story of the Sahara, but I can't accept the custom there, of washing from the inside out. I admire Sanmao for describing life in the desert so interestingly.
I really like Sanmao's writing style, which is very candid. What is presented to us is the Sahara in Sanmao's eyes, just like listening to a story. I also saw the love between Sanmao and Jose, the love between daily necessities and salt. People often say that marriage is the grave of love. I may not have understood it well before (because I have never been married...), But after seeing the life of Sanmao and Jose in the Sahara, I feel that there is still a big problem with this sentence (although I still don't understand it because I have never experienced either...). I think a person's writing style is just like his personality. No wonder the ancients said: Seeing "words" is like seeing people. I think there is a certain truth to it.

Reading Sanmao's books is so fascinating, as if someone is standing in front of you, telling you about her sad, joyful, touching or exciting experiences. It's not like reading a book at all, it's like getting to know and understand a person.

I have never dared to read Sanmao's books. Obviously there are so many beautiful things in the book, but it is always inevitable to think of the tragedy that followed. It seems that every time I read more, I get closer to the heartbreaking ending...
