In that era, the male protagonist's behavior was not even considered cheating, but his deception and lies brought trauma to the female protagonist that can never be erased. The promise that they would be a couple for the rest of their lives and never take concubines has become a laughing stock. As a modern person who is obsessed with single-mindedness, he does not want his thoughts to be assimilated by that era.
