About This Novel
When Qiong Yao started writing the novel in 1976, she already anticipated the possibility of adapting it into a film. It was written specifically for the director's vision and was shot on location in Italy in 1977. Zhixiang (Ma Yonglin) dreams of flying to Rome to join his brother Chen Zhiyuan (Qin Xianglin) who is studying vocal music. He thought that Zhiyuan, who had already become famous, would perform operas with great enthusiasm on famous stages. Unexpectedly, Zhiyuan was just a handyman carrying scenery in the opera house.
