Chronicle of Modern Chinese Literature (1895-1949)·volume 2
About This Novel
This series of "Chronicles of Modern Chinese Literature" has 11 volumes in total, chronicling half a century of literary history from January 1895 in the late Qing Dynasty to June 1949, the eve of the First Literary Congress of New China. The content includes the social and historical background of literary development, the whereabouts of major writers, literary activities, literary trends of thought, literary publishing, and the basic situation of major literary works. The appendix at the back of the book contains an index of the main figures involved in the entire chronicle to facilitate further verification by readers. It also lists the main references used in our writings. Interested readers can further expand and explore this. The chief editors of each volume are teachers from Beijing Normal University's modern and contemporary Chinese literature discipline. In view of the special regional nature of the development of Chinese literature in the war years after 1942, and in order to more accurately grasp the characteristics of this era of modern Chinese literature, we specially invited two scholars from Chongqing and Sichuan who are engaged in modern literature research to join us.
