About This Novel

"From Baicao Garden to Sanwei Bookstore" has been widely read since it was selected as a middle school Chinese textbook in 1931. "Baicao Garden", as a proper name for Lu Xun's memory space, has an immovable classic status. This book restores the "Baicao Garden" from the spiritual "paradise" of modern Chinese people's childhood into a historical space that contains multiple connotations such as family history, reading history, and literary history. The birth of the "Baicao Garden" is the product of the poetry dialogue between the Zhou brothers. The two men's series of writing centered on the "garden" lasted for more than half a century. The "Baicao Garden" was also sublimated from the back garden of Xintai Gate of Zhou's family in Shaoxing into a literary space with the significance of tracing the starting point of May Fourth New Literature.
