I shouldn't be the last one to comment that it is tasteless and a pity to throw away. In the case of fanfic, and crammed in a lot of stuff. And then repeatedly shaped a lot of unnecessary things. The more you explain, the more you have to think about why your audience is saying it.

I like to watch fan fiction, I like to see other people's different thoughts and ideas in different worldviews, I like to see settings given more meaning between blur and clarity, and I like to see familiar characters shine or have ordinary joy in different worlds. You can have your own second creation within the second creation. But what I don't like the most is that some people are messing around in the guise of fandom. There is no main line, no shaping, no plot, no logic, and the original setting is ignored. The setting should be extended or reasonably negated in the fanfic and pushed to reconstruction, not the history.
