About This Novel

"New Yixiang Fa Yao" is an ancient scientific and technological work with world significance. This work of less than 30,000 words records many glorious achievements of the ancient Chinese nation, including the world's earliest anchor-shaped escapement for mechanical clocks; it records the movement of the celestial telescope with the celestial body, which is the prototype of the modern observatory's tracking machine - the rotary clock; it records the movable roof panel of the observation room of the water-moving instrument observatory, which is the ancestor of the dome of the modern observatory. In addition, this book also left us with more than 50 full, partial, and parts drawings of astronomical instruments and mechanical transmissions, and more than 150 mechanical spare parts. This is the earliest and most complete mechanical drawing preserved in our country and in the world. It is precisely because these drawings have been preserved to this day that modern scholars have been able to conduct research, and Wang Zhenduo and Joseph Needham respectively restored the water transport instrument platform. The "Su Song Star Chart" in "New Yixiang Fa Yao" is also an important astronomical achievement. It is the earliest all-sky star chart existing in China.
