About This Novel

This is a true story, recording a group of young people who did not go to the real battlefield, but experienced real death. In the 1990s, a group of Israeli soldiers stationed at a military outpost in the safe zone called "Pumpkin Hill" trained arduously, and eventually met the tragic fate that awaited them. Avi, a new recruit in 1994, had extraordinary literary talent and was a rebellious young man. However, witnessing the death of his comrades in battle completely shattered his worldview. In 1998, the author of this book was sent to Pumpkin Mountain when he was under 20 years old. During a sortie, the tank he was riding in encountered a mine laid by the enemy. The air wave of the explosion threw him violently, and he had a close call with death.
