About This Novel

In order to actively promote humanitarian ideas, carry forward the national spirit of continuous self-improvement and the good custom of helping the disabled, and encourage disabled people to become self-reliant. In 1991, the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the Ministry of Personnel, the General Political Department of the People's Liberation Army, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the All-China Women's Federation, and the China Disabled Persons' Federation hosted the first national commendation conference for self-improvement models and advanced collectives and individuals in helping the disabled. This commendation meeting has been held six times so far. In 2019, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the China Disabled Persons' Federation selected 167 self-improvement models nationwide, including Jin Zhanpeng and Du Fuguo, and commended them at the Sixth National Self-Reliance Model and Advanced Recognition Conference for Disabled Persons held on May 16. This book selects 36 national self-improvement models, interviews and reports on their advanced deeds, and compiles them into the 2019 volume of "Songs of Self-Improvement".
