About This Novel
André Gide (1869-1951) was a famous French writer in the 20th century. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1947. The prose "Grain of the Earth" is an important work by Gide. After expert evaluation, it was selected into the third series of the "Chinese Translation of World Literature Masterpieces Series". The work tells a series of poetic thoughts written by the author in a lyrical way, combining traditional short poems, odes, melody and other forms after traveling to North Africa and Italy. He senses the flowers and fruits of life with his fiery soul, and turns this sincere love into carols and poetry. This book can be described as Gide's most passionate spiritual monologue, and is regarded as "the Bible of a restless generation." The book consists of eight volumes, one ode, and one message, totaling about 100,000 words.
