About This Novel

This book is based on "Reminiscences of Baudelaire" by the famous French novelist, poet, and art theorist Gautier. Turning to the title page of "Flowers of Evil", this most famous collection of lyric poems in modern times was presented to the author of this book. Baudelaire called him "a very dear and highly respected teacher and friend." Less than half a year after Baudelaire's death, he wrote this deeply affectionate and eloquent essay, which is both a memoir and a biography with a unique style. The book also contains the essence of Poe's poems, articles and letters, which is indeed an excellent memory and commemoration of this extraordinary poet. Guy Sand called it a "biographical masterpiece", a rare "jewel" in prose that cannot be removed word for word.
