Naoko (illustrated Version)
About This Novel
"Naoko" is one of the masterpieces created by the Japanese novelist Hori Tatsuo, and it was the last novel published before his death. The novel is divided into two major chapters: Elm House and Naoko. In Elm House, a woman named Mimura Naoko reads the notes written by her mother, Mrs. Mimura, after marrying office worker Keisuke Kurokawa, and feels that her heart is affected by her mother's notes. The young girl Nahoko witnessed her mother's love tragedy and hastily chose a dull and loveless marriage. However, she could not bear the emotional barrenness and finally escaped from her cold home in the name of recuperation and lived in a nursing home in the mountains. Childhood playmates and her wandering husband visited successively, which made Nakana Honoko, who was in retreat, start to think, and gradually came up with some new ideas: Even if life is lonely, one should not passively escape.
