About This Novel
A young female body appears in an extremely strange state in an inaccessible, dense and dark forest. Is it a supernatural mysterious power or a heinous evil intention? The Pyrenees Mountains in the Basque Country of Spain are a mysterious place with dense jungles, ancient history and folklore, and even a language completely different from Spanish and French. Amaya Salazar, a smart and resolute female police detective, was ordered to investigate two murder cases. The victims were all young girls. They were hanged with strings, naked, lying by the river, and a piece of traditional Basque cake was placed on their lower bodies. For these two murders, Detective Salazar is forced to return to the hometown she has tried to escape for many years. Her relationship with her mother and sister has always been tense. Nowadays, everyone in the town is in danger, neighbors are all suspects, and the stalemate case makes people feel powerless, because the murderer will not wait for anyone...

The writing of this book is excellent, the plot is touching, the ending is unexpected, and the content is resonant and thought-provoking. It is one of the rare good books I have encountered in decades. The only regret is that I have not read a word, but it does not affect me BB

When I saw the introduction of relevant subjects in the book, I felt a bit like a pioneer in forensics. I wonder if it was because of the need of the plot. In the end, the case left a suspense about the teeth marks on some of the victims in the cave.
