Underground Man Peake
by Jack Kerouac
About This Novel
"The Collected Works of Kerouac: Underground Man and Peake" consists of two novels, "Underground Man" and "Peke", and an introduction. "The Underground Man" was written in 1953 and published in 1958. It tells the story of his interracial love affair with Eileen Lee. "Pique" was published in 1971. It tells the story of a little boy, Peake, who goes to New York to join his brother after the death of his grandfather, who he depends on for life, and then the two of them tour the United States together. Ann Douglas's long introduction clearly outlines Kerouac's creative career and his position in literary and cultural history. It is particularly difficult for ordinary readers to understand the origin and reception history of Kerouac's unique writing style. This introduction is very useful to readers.
