If I Was in My Right Mind is a modern tale of loss, search, and fear. The author uses bizarre daily life to wrap up the extraordinary, delicately showing the grief of losing a child, the sadness of losing a friend, and people's fear of death. Yi Yi's trumpet, no matter how tender it is, is still Yi Yi, or there is always a tender side in Yi Yi's dark stories. His writing is very "white" and easy to read, the plot is not complicated, and some of the characters' shortcomings and weird traits are very touching. Although some people may simply attribute his novels to "curiousness", I still think there are many other colors besides curiosity.
