About This Novel
"Patience" tells the story of the tortuous fate of Yang Zhenxiu's family after they fled from Sichuan to Pijiagou in northern Shaanxi in the early 1970s. It depicts the historical changes of rural areas in northern Shaanxi over more than 50 years, with rich and broad content. The protagonist Zhenxiu is a typical image of traditional Chinese rural working women, who is tolerant, strong and capable. For the sake of her family, she sacrificed her love and went through hardships. Her character is plump and positive, and her hard spiritual core gives people strength. The language is appropriate and flavorful, just like the crops that grow vigorously in the land in season, and are full of regional color.
