About This Novel
"Roaring Life" is the second collection of short stories by Kim Ae-ran, a powerful female writer in the Korean literary world. It consists of eight short stories. There are stories in the book about a daughter who was raised in a noodle shop and plays the piano wantonly in a semi-underground rental house in Seoul where rainwater pours in. There are stories about college graduates who teach in remedial classes and live a life that is both a "social animal" and a "dwelling". There are also stories about the reality that urban youths are unable to spend Christmas decently with their lovers due to lack of material... These stories focus on the city Those respectable ordinary people in the novel who seem ordinary and marginal, but are actually struggling silently with life every day, are like a pool of water accumulated in ordinary daily life. With the author's imaginative and intelligent writing style, readers can reflect themselves and taste that sadness can be portrayed calmly, and desolation can be expressed humorously. The book is prefaced by Zhang Yiwei, a Chinese writer and winner of the "Future Writer" Award.
