About This Novel
From 1843 to 1848 (except 1847), Dickens published a novella every Christmas, a total of five novels, which were published together under the name "Christmas Stories". These novels are by no means purely episodic works; they focus on the author's dream of reconciling social contradictions and his emotions of sadness and disappointment. Just take the most famous "A Christmas Carol" as an example. The story describes a stingy old businessman who is led by three ghosts on Christmas Eve to see the kindness of the poor and the fate of the cruel people, and then becomes a generous and kind person. ..."A Christmas Story" is deeply rooted in the hearts of the British people, and the characters in it are almost household names. Many critics believe that its publication marked a period of prosperity for Dickens's creation.
