A Village Home
About This Novel
"Home in a Village" is a new collection of short stories by the famous Kazakh female writer Yerkesi Humanbek. Yerksi's hometown is Beita Mountain on the border between China and Mongolia. This Kazakh shepherd girl who left her yurt pasture at a young age traveled around the outside world and returned to her birthplace in the form of literature. She discovered her hometown with the eyes of a child: she wrote about the ordinary families in her childhood village, the wild rapeseed flowers in the Gobi Desert, the graffiti on the rock walls, the "really not beautiful" bride, and the herders who migrated, changed places, and lived in pursuit of water and grass for generations. Ye Erkesi's words are soaked in the breath of unpolluted green grass, and the stories he writes are like frames of oil paintings inherited from his grandmother. "A village home" is the countless ordinary days and nights of the Kazakh people, which accumulate the quality of life and convey the light of faith.
