About This Novel

One of the "Wars of the Roses" series, Philippa Gregory's representative work, set in the British War of the Roses, mainly depicts the story of women who played a key role in the struggle between the two families. The heroine of "The Lady of the River" is Jacquetta, the mother of Queen Elizabeth Woodville, "the most beautiful woman in Britain". In the book, she is a beauty who inherited the prophetic ability of the legendary river goddess. She established a friendship with Joan of Arc when she was young, and was later proposed and married by the Duke because of her ability. Although Jacquetta only pursues pure love and a perfect family, her family has reached the center of the vortex of palace struggle. Even if she can predict the future, she cannot escape the tricks of fate.
