About This Novel

This book is the fourth rural novel written by the author. Based on what Zhao Shunhe saw, heard and felt as a child, this book originally reproduces the people, stories, natural environment and social features of Houhangzhuang, Shanmiao Commune, Runshui County, northern Jiangsu in the 1970s and 1980s. In the book, the author skillfully selects five ordinary families from the three families of Zhao, Han, and Gao, and spares no effort to show the intricate interpersonal relationships and conflicts and grievances between different families in detail. He praises the generation of young people represented by Zhao Lianfu who did not choose to give up on themselves in the midst of suffering, but fought bravely in the wave of the development of the times, composing a hymn to life with confidence and kindness.
