Regarding this novel, "Literary News" once commented: "Li Yi's "Green Leaves" is a novel on the theme of rural education in northwest China. The author intends to give a direct, in-depth and calm presentation of the current rural education status in western China through a comprehensive narration of a township's education. A series of educational stories and typical education cases with profound philosophical thoughts are used as the basis, and the teaching experience, emotions and life of grassroots educators are used as the latitude to construct a vivid drama of grassroots education, thereby reflecting the pace of innovation and progress of rural grassroots education in the past 30 years, and writing the rich and ordinary life path and spiritual history of the educators who stick to the grassroots level.
