About This Novel
My name is Wang Liangliang, and I like to be called this name. But the people in the village don't call me Wang Lianglang, but call me Wang Mute. Yes, I was born unable to speak. My parents took me everywhere to seek medical treatment, but found nothing. This makes them feel sad and angry, always raising their voices and shouting that I am a mute king. People in the village followed suit, including a three-year-old child. Later, there was only one person left in our Nanshan Village who called me Wang Liangliang. That person is Wang Sangong. He is an old bachelor, eighty-nine years old, and there is no remaining tooth in his mouth. However, that waning mouth still calls my name from time to time, making me always believe that one day I will be able to speak loudly, so I like this old bachelor from the bottom of my heart. Therefore, when I pass by Wang Sangong's house, I always hit the trees on the roadside with the whip, stones or other objects in my hand, making a banging sound.
