My mother was born during World War II, and her family was in a small village in Guangdong. I was also born in a village, and by chance came to Hong Kong when I was young. However, many of the plots in the novel were not unfamiliar to me. My mother has been cultivating rice fields for more than 40 years. She would tell us everything that happened in the village like a story, so words like "production team" and "party secretary" seemed very familiar to me.
Real life, worth recalling
It is worth recommending and I hope it can be made into a TV series.
