About This Novel
"Xiaoyaoyou" is Ban Yu's second novel collection after "Winter Swimming". It contains seven short and medium-length works with different styles and story time spans over thirty years, presenting a more open and rich look. The depressed novelist, the man who raises ants, the sick girl, the lover chasing the comet, the father who disappears in time... They are trapped in a heavy fog, and in the shaky light, they always want to dance clumsily. These stories are immersed in the pain and imprint of people in social changes, writing about our true cowardice, desire, difficulties and struggles between brilliance and darkness, hope and despair. The drowning man wants to go ashore to take a breath, and the lost man waits for a clear night. The dark night will not be bottomless forever, because once we choose to look up, we can see the stars accompanying us.
