"A Thousand Cranes" contains four classic novels by the world-famous writer Kawabata Yasunari, "A Thousand Cranes", "Cangha Plover", "Dancing Girl of Izu" and "Hot Spring Hotel". Among them, "A Thousand Cranes" was one of the three novels mentioned when he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. It tells a story about an abnormal love affair involving two generations. Mitani Kikuharu's father was a famous tea ceremony master who once had an affair with a woman named Kurimoto Chikako, and later fell in love with Mrs. Ota. Many years after his father's death, Kikuji and Mrs. Ota met unexpectedly at a tea party held by Chigako. Ota, longing for his former lover, actually moved on to his son Kikuji, who also accepted this unethical love... The novel shows the conflict between love and morality, and depicts Japanese culture and psychology to the extreme.
