The Complete Works of Sherlock Holmes Volume 6: the Valley of Fear
About This Novel
Holmes learned through his assistant that Douglas, a wealthy gentleman, was in danger, so he prepared to stop the case from happening. In the end, it was too late. Douglas had been framed and died in a horrific manner. His head was almost shattered by gunshots, and the surrounding area was covered in blood and flesh. It was too horrible to look at! Next to the body was a card with the words "V. V.341" Scrawled on it. This makes the case even more confusing. But Holmes finally came to the conclusion that "Douglas was not dead, but was hiding." In the end, his judgment was proved to be correct. Douglas was an excellent detective. In order to completely eradicate the heinous bloodthirsty faction, he went deep into the organization and became one of them, eventually arresting most of the members. However, there were still some elements who wanted to kill him after being released from prison, so Douglas disguised the case as if he had been killed to maintain his own safety.
