About This Novel
This book is the second part of the "Pingle Town Trilogy" that Yan Ge is writing. The protagonist Duan Yixing (i. E. The narrator "I") has never appeared in the novel, nor has he promoted the progress of the story. In the innocent voice of this crazy daughter, the author tells the story of how the family, especially her father, Xue Shengqiang, director of the Chunjuan Douban Factory in Pingle Town, prepared for her grandma's 80th birthday party. Family members who are far apart return to town, stirring up old grudges and bittersweet memories. As the birthday party approaches, old and new secrets surface, exploding like timely bombs. Funny, vivid, wanton, and pungent, the past and present are intertwined without leaving a trace under the overlapping montages, like a lively genre painting of a small town in Western Sichuan, or a verbal adventure that breaks into the Sichuan dialect.
