About This Novel
This book revolves around an unknown woman named "Mrs. Caldwell" and uses the forty rooms she lived in throughout her life as the main line to tell the story of her transformation from a girl who longed to be a poet to a woman who gave birth to several children and gradually lost her self and creativity. The novel begins when Mrs. Caldwell is five years old and ends when she dies. It captures fragments of the rooms she lived in at different stages of her life, showing her dilemma, struggle and confusion at that stage of life. From her mother's bedroom when she was a child, to her college dormitory, to her fiancé's bedroom, her nursery and laundry room after marriage, her life is connected through slices of different rooms.
