About This Novel
Soldiers like to compete with each other, with their comrades, with their fellow soldiers, and often with themselves. In the words of firefighter Geng Jian, soldiers who don't compete will slowly rot away. Geng Jian is a non-commissioned officer of the Special Service Squadron of the C City Fire Corps of the Armed Police. This man has a rather distinctive appearance. His forehead, cheekbones, and lower jaw are all very angular. At a glance, he looks like a sketch by an artist. It looks rather rough anyway. Since the day he joined the army, he liked to compete. More than ten years later, all the people in the squadron who could compete with him were gone, leaving only his fellow countryman Niu Shuang. He seemed to be unwilling to give up and still competed with Niu Shuang. Of course, Niu Shuang is not a fuel-efficient lamp. If Geng Jian didn't compete with him, he would feel that his life would be boring. Therefore, they often turn ordinary training into a life-and-death competition.
