About This Novel
"Tropic of Cancer" is the first of Henry Miller's autobiographical trilogy. It describes Miller's life experience living in Paris with several writer and artist friends. At the same time, through the description of exaggerated and deformed life details such as work, conversation, banquets, and whoring, it shows the inner spiritual world of the impoverished artists and questions the meaning of survival in this messy and dirty world. The book attracted many readers after its publication. After it was lifted from the ban in the United States in 1961, it became a best-selling literary masterpiece around the world, profoundly affecting the European and American literary circles after World War II.
