About This Novel
Fei Xiaotong's novella, written in English in the mid-1930s, has been sealed for a long time in the "Firth Archives" of the library of the London School of Economics where the author once studied. It was only discovered and translated into Chinese in 2016. The novel describes the various experiences of a new silk-making enterprise in rural southern Jiangsu in the 1930s. It is not only the "literary version" of the author's famous book "Jiangcun Economy", but also echoes the left-wing literature of the 1930s.
