Xia Min is from Zhaotong, Yunnan. He started writing in the mid-1980s. He has published more than 2 million words of short and medium-length stories in "Contemporary", "October", "People's Literature", "Chinese Writers", "Youth Literature", "Beijing Literature", "Zhongshan" and other magazines. His works have been published in "Selected Novels", "Novel Monthly", "Novelette" "Selected Novels", "Works and Controversies", "Appreciation of Masterpieces", "Selected Chinese Novellas", "2001 Excellent Novella Collection", "Excellent Collection of China's 30 Years of Reform", "Collection of Lu Xun Literature Prize Works", "Excellent Series of Award-winning Novels in the New Century" and other books and periodicals. He won the first prize of the 4th Yunnan Provincial Government Literature Award, the overall champion of the 2001 "Contemporary" Literature Rally, the first prize of the first Liang Bin Literature Award, the first prize of the "Love and Peace" novella of "People's Literature", the third Lu Xun Literature Award, and the first Blooming Literary and Art Achievement Award. The movie "A Pair of Sheep" adapted from the novel of the same name won awards in France, the United States, and Canada.
