Xia Min is from Zhaotong, Yunnan. He started writing in the mid-1980s. He has published more than 2 million words of short and medium-length stories in "Contemporary", "October", "People's Literature", "Chinese Writers", "Youth Literature", "Beijing Literature", "Zhongshan" and other magazines.
