About This Novel

This book is the famous work of Danish writer Karen Blixen (1885-1962), the author of "Out of Africa". This book is Karen's first collection of stories written in English, the language she learned during her 17 years in Kenya. The collection of stories was first published in the United States in 1934, when she used the pen name Isak Dinesen. The book was selected by the "American Book of the Month Club" the same year it was published, and immediately attracted many readers and became a best-seller.
