About This Novel

Zaizen, an associate professor at Naniwa University Affiliated Hospital, has excellent medical skills, but he was squeezed out by his former mentor Professor Azuma, and the relationship between the two broke down. In order to become the first professor of surgery, Zaizen used his father-in-law's financial resources and connections to start a fierce competition with the candidates recommended by Professor Dong. Through various shady transactions, Cai Qian finally got his wish and thought he was at the pinnacle of life. But at the same time, he slowly lost his original intention of being a doctor. Due to his overconfidence and hasty attitude, patient Sasaki died due to misdiagnosis. Facing Sasaki's family members, he was panic-stricken. While pretending to be calm, he used all his strength to win the lawsuit. Although Caiqian won the case in the first instance, the patient's family still insisted on appealing. In the end, the ambitious Cai Qian was lost in his explicit desire... But the giant white tower still stood tall, like a sharp sword reaching into the clouds...

The original work is more exciting than the Japanese drama. I am really lucky not to have missed such a great work.

I felt a stiffness in the text. But as a novel, its dense content really made me start reading this novel again after giving up reading several times. I have always had a mixed feeling about the straightforward but delicate descriptions in Japanese literature. On the one hand, I feel a kind of honesty from it, but on the other hand, I always feel that it lacks something similar to a blank space. From the perspective of a reader who has always wanted to be a creator, I very much admire the author for writing such a book even though he has no medical or legal background. The perseverance in this book cannot be summed up in an author's notes or interviews. Reflecting on this novel gave me a certain degree of confidence in my own creation. There is really no need to worry about words. A truly good novel must be rich in characters, plots, and thoughts. Text can come in a variety of styles. I must say that apart from online articles, I haven't really read a literary work for a long time. This is the first pure literary work that I have really read this year. From my own point of view, it is not easy because I lack the previous desire for freedom under constraints.
